Learn to save a life
Most adults are familiar with the terms heart attack, cardiac arrest and stroke. Most people are also familiar with the term resuscitation. But knowing how to recognise these emergencies correctly, and how to administer the correct and appropriate first aid measure quickly, is too overwhelming for many.
This practical, half-day life-saving course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to save a life. Delivered in English, it provides essential knowledge, confidence and practical skills to recognise the mentioned emergencies and which immediate help is needed.
Why attend a life-saving course?
Did you know that in Switzerland, approximately one person dies outside a hospital every hour? That adds up to around 10,000 deaths. In most of these cases of sudden cardiac arrest, the heart is in a condition known as ventricular fibrillation. In this condition, the heart chambers no longer contract as they normally would and blood is no longer pumped out of the heart. This is why ventricular fibrillation is a specific type of cardiac arrest.
What will you learn?
Participants will gain practical life-saving skills, including how to:
- recognise and manage unconsciousness
- place a casualty into recovery position
- perform CPR on adults
- how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- understand the difference between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest
- recognise a stroke and which first aid measures to start
- recognise choking and how to perform the upper abdominal thrust (commonly known as the Heimlich Manoeuvre)
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for anyone with and without experience in first aid courses, no prior knowledge is required. The course will enable you to provide life saving measures in everyday life, at work or during your private time and within your family.
