Babysitting and First Aid for Teenagers

Learn to babysit safely and confidently

Babysitting can be both exciting and challenging. It requires more than just liking children – it calls for responsibility, basic childcare skills, and the ability to respond in emergencies. This two-day course prepares young people (ages 12–16, or older teens) to babysit safely and responsibly, combining essential childcare knowledge with first aid training.

Why take this course?
Many parents – and local Swiss authorities – consider certified training a sign of quality and safety. This course builds confidence, improves job readiness, and helps teens approach their first babysitting jobs with ease.

What will you learn?

Day 1 – Childcare Basics:

  • Understanding child development
  • Safe caregiving practices
  • Feeding, diapering, and dressing (with baby dolls)
  • Entertaining and engaging with children
  • Age-appropriate activities and safety tips

Day 2 – First Aid & Safety:

  • Recognising and responding to choking
  • Handling unconsciousness and performing CPR
  • Managing fever, seizures, wounds, and bleeding

This hands-on course is designed to make teens confident, capable, and well-prepared babysitters.

This course is held in English for students of the International School of Schaffhausen. External registrations are allowed, however, priority is given to students of the school.
